‘AkordioM’ trio is to hold a concert Thursday evening in the Cultural Information Center of the Republic of Macedonia in Sofia.

‘AkordioM’ is consisted of Zorica Karakutovska, Bojan Volchevski and Filip Stamevski. This trio started performing together a few years ago, but its members have previously been part of various musical ensembles that sometimes performed together on stage.

Zorica Karakutovska gained her exceptional accordion skills under the mentorship of Professor Vojin Vasovic. During her studies she was awarded at a number of national and international competitions.

Since she started lecturing, her students have won over 200 awards at national and international competitions of highest rank. ‘AkordioM’ members Bojan Volchevski and Filip Stamevski, now her colleagues, are both Karakutovska’s former students.

They are winners on national and international competitions and have established themselves as excellent performers as soloists and ensembles’ members.

Their concert list is considerable, with performances in Macedonia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Portugal, Luxembourg, Italy etc.

‘AkordioM’ play transcriptions/compositions originally written for other chamber ensembles’ (by Vivaldi, Bach and Mozart) alongside accordion works (from Derbenko, Piazzolla and Galliano).

Their latest repertoire addition are the works of young composer Elizabeta Ilievska – Bete, showcasing the complex rhythmic structures in Macedonian folklore (5/8, 7/8, 9/8). Her compositions are inspired by traditional Macedonian songs and are written in a contemporary style using various composing techniques.

Concert in Sofia is supported by the Ministry of Culture.
