Ambassador Rakovec: Slovenia has always supported Macedonia’s EU and NATO integration


Slovenia sincerely wishes for Macedonia to start the EU accession talks and become full-fledged NATO member, the country’s Ambassador in Skopje, Branko Rakovec said Tuesday at a reception honouring the 23rd anniversary of Slovenia’s independence.

“Slovenia has always supported Macedonia on its road to the EU, NATO membership. We stand by Macedonia’s on its Euro-Atlantic road, being ready to share our experiences, expertise and good practices in this respect. We sincerely wish for Macedonia to start the EU accession talks, become full-fledged NATO member, achieve economic success, maintain good relations with the neighbours and keep being a model of multicultural and multiethnic state,” Rakovec said.

He expressed satisfaction with the excellent Macedonian-Slovenian relations and overall cooperation.

This year Slovenia is also celebrating the 10th anniversary of its EU and NATO membership, Rakovec said at the reception, attended by Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov, government officials and members of the diplomatic corps.
