Renowned independent research agency of public opinion, “Brima Gallup”, which works for the International Republican Institute (IRI) based in Washington, at the request and in cooperation with the weekly magazine “Republika”, from May 29 to May 12, 2016 conducted a field survey for the opinion of citizens in regard to issues related to the current political topics, where 1,006 respondents aged over 18 were polled.

Given the fact that in all the previous elections, the ethnic Albanians in Macedonia almost hundred percent voted for the political parties of the Albanian political campus, we are publishing the results of a survey that are referring to the opinion of the Macedonians. At the same time, Macedonian voters in elections in most rates provide their support to VMRO-DPMNE and SDSM, the research is generally directed to the issues relating to these two political parties, except for the answers to the question about the ratings of the political parties, where apart from the Macedonian electorate it was taken into account the overall opinion of all ethnic groups (Macedonians, Albanians, Turks, Serbs, Roma, Vlachs, Bosniaks and others) in order to get a realistic portrayal of the opinion of the citizens of all relevant political parties in the country.

The results show that the majority of the population has personal beliefs and views that are closer to the ruling VMRO-DPMNE, while the views of the smaller part of the population are closer to SDSM.

Including the voters of other nationalities in the country, 26.3 percent said that their views and beliefs are closer to VMRO-DPMNE, while 14.6 percent of the respondents were in favor of SDSM.

Taking into account the answers of the Macedonians, double difference is reflected. 38.8 percent of respondents who were Macedonians said their views and beliefs are closer to VMRO-DPMNE, whereas 18.7 percent were in favor of SDSM.

People in Macedonian think that VMRO-DPMNE and its political program offer a better future for Macedonia.

27.4 percent of the respondents were in favor of VMRO-DPMNE and 14.6 percent said that the program of SDSM offers a better future for Macedonia.

39.8 percent of the Macedonians believe that VMRO-DPMNE and its political program offer a better future for Macedonia. Only 17.8 percent were in favor of SDSM and its program.

Almost three times more or 33.1 percent of all respondents said that VMRO-DPMNE is more active in their community to get the support of the population, and only 12.2% believe that it is SDSM.

That difference is also three times higher among the Macedonian respondents  – 48.8 percent were in favor of the ruling VMRO-DPMNE and 15.5 percent in favor of SDSM.

Macedonians believe that VMRO-DPMNE would run the country better.

41.5 percent of the respondents were in favor of VMRO-DPMNE, while only 17.5 percent were in favor of the opposition SDSM .

Margin of error of ± 3 percent at a 95 percent level of confidence.
