Dimitriev and Borisov meet at the Riga summit

Macedonian caretaker Prime Minister Emil Dimitriev, who is in Riga for the summit between China and the Central and Eastern European countries, met with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. The two discussed work on the infrastructure projects connecting Macedonia and Bulgaria, some of whom are supported by Chinese development credits.

The Macedonian Government informed that Borisov and Dimitriev also discussed the prospects for NATO enlargement and for opening European Union accession talks for Macedonia, both of which were stalled on Greek objections. Dimitriev and Borisov also discussed the need to increase economic cooperation and tourism between the two neighboring countries, and to work together to mitigate the effects of the migrant and refugee crisis.
