“Ethnological heritage of minority ethnic groups in Macedonia” exhibition opens in Museum of Macedonia

An exhibition “Ethnological heritage of minority ethnic groups in Macedonia” featuring folk costumes, jewelry, household items made of wood, textile, metal and pottery will open Tuesday evening in the Museum of Macedonia.

The exhibition “Ethnological heritage of minority ethnic groups in Macedonia” is the first exhibition in the Museum of Macedonia which represents the integral cultural heritage of the ethnic communities of the Albanians, Turks, Roma and Vlachs. The museum has rich museum collections related to these communities, which were vital for the research of their folklore and tradition.

These ethnic communities have lived on the same ground for centuries and the need and necessity for their immediate daily communication is quite natural. As a result, the material and spiritual cultural heritage of these ethnic communities was in constant touch and interaction, and yet they managed to create indigenous cultural values, thereby preserving their uniqueness and individuality, that is, itheir identity.
