First Centre for Museum Education opens in the Museum of Macedonia


The Centre for Museum Education has been opened Thursday in the national institution the Museum of Macedonia as part of National Strategy for Development of Culture 2013-2017.

Culture Minister Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska at the opening said that the centre will contribute young persons to acquaint with priceless values of our cultural heritage and will influence on raising awareness about the importance of protection the cultural heritage.

Cultural heritage presented in our museums is undoubtedly very important segment in development and education of young persons and in this context we continually urge to enrich curricula in educational institutions, Kanceska-Milevska said.

The main goal of the new Centre for Museum Education first of its kind in Macedonia, is young population to adopt elementary information about museums through practical, scientific and research work adaptable to certain age and prior knowledge, she said.

Aside from museum educators, also children from kindergartens, students from several primary and secondary schools were included in preparations of centre’s opening.
