The messages saying there will be no EU enlargement in the next five years should not be taken dramatically, but forgetting the 60-year-old principles upon which the European project is based poses a genuine risk, Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki told a Croatia Forum on the EU integration of the Western Balkans, taking place in Dubrovnik on Friday.

The event offered views of EU member and candidate states about the challenges to and perspectives for the EU integration of the Western Balkan countries. It also tackled the risks and possibilities of the EU enlargement process.

At the forum’s sidelines, Poposki held several meetings and informal talks with his counterparts from Hungary, Canada, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, the EU Enlargement Commissioner, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, and other senior political representatives that attended the gathering, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
