In 2014 Macedonian citizens complained the most about Facebook personal data abuse

Last year, Macedonian citizens complained the most about the abuse of personal data on social networks, i.e. the creation of false Facebook profiles, and hacked profiles. During 2014, the Directorate for Personal Data Protection received a total of 370 complaints related to personal data abuse, 341 of which are completed, and 29 are ongoing.

Compared to the previous years, there is a decrease in the number of complaints. In 2013, 404 complaints were filed at the Directorate, while in 2012 – 385 etc. According to the analyses performed by the Directorate, the lowering of the number of complaints is due to the raising of the public awareness about the existence and the importance of the right to personal data protection.
