Macedonia badly beaten by Croatia in the European Handball Championship

The Macedonian national handball team suffered a defeat at the hands of Croatia, in the European Handball Championship that takes place in Poland. Croatia was the better team throughout the game, taking an early lead of 7:1, and eventually winning 34:24.



The Croats played well throughout the field, with good saves and efficient attacks. During the first half they increased their lead against the absent­minded Macedonian team to 15:8, only to see the opponent make a slight comeback and decrease the lead to 17:13 at the half time.

After some promising action by Filip Kuzmanovski at the start of the second half, Croatia quickly regained control, and increased its lead to 8 goals by the 39 minute, when Macedonian resistance completely collapsed. Dejan Manaskov was the best scorer in the Macedonian team with 7 goals from as many attempts. Ivan Sliskovic scored 6 for the Croatian team, also from 6 attempts.

Macedonia faces Norway on 25 January in the next match in the group. Croatia leads the group with 4 points, ahead of France, Poland and Norway, who also have 4 points. Macedonia and Belarus have won no games so far and are expected to compete for the fifth
