Macedonian Embassy presents tourism potentials to leading Japanese operators

The Macedonian Embassy in Japan held a presentation of the country before some of the leading Japanese touroperators. Ambassador Andrijana Cvetkovik held the presentation with assistance from the Japanese Association of tour operators and the Agency for promotion and support of tourism.

“The Republic of Macedonia is a new and attractive destination for Japanese tourists. The subsidies offered to tour operators were well received by Japanese agencies. Many of them followed up with inquiries to the Embassy to learn more about what Macedonia can offer tourists and to begin preparing tours to Macedonia. We hope to see a significant rise in Japanese tourists in 2016″, Ambassador Cvetkovik said.

Macedonia is strongly pushing to subsidize low costs flights to the country and also offers subsidies for operators who bring larger groups of tourists. During the presentation at the Embassy, Cvetkovik pointed out that the lakeside resort of Ohrid has been voted one of the 30 most beautiful places in Europe by Japanese operators. In a few days Ohrid will be presented at the annual JATA Tourism EXPO, which is one of the largest tourism fairs in the world, featuring over 150.000 participants and over 40.000 tour agencies.
