Macedonian Government allocated about 20 million EUR for preventive health measures

1,2 million Macedonian citizens will undergo preventive checkups for early detection of cardiovascular and kidney diseases, and diabetes over the next two years.

“This preventive measures will be implemented as of January 1, 2014. The Government has allocated about 20 million EUR for this purpose, meaning 10 million per year”, announced Spokesman Aleksandar Gjorgiev at the press conference on Thursday.

The medical checkup will include blood and urine analysis, EKG and weight measurement.

Director of Health Insurance Fund Maja Parnandzieva-Zmejkova notified the measure was undertaken toward early detection of the diseases, but also for secondary prevention of those already experiencing health problems.
