Macedonian pavilion at 56. Venice Biennale opens

Macedonia’s Pavilion within the 56. Venice Biennale opened Thursday at Arsenale ­- Sale d’Armi exhibition venue in Venice.

Deputy Culture Minister Dragan Nedeljkovic addressed the opening ceremony., saying Macedonia is represented by project “We are all in this alone” by artists Hristina Ivanovska and Jane Calovski.

“The Venice Biennale is significant for the promotion of Macedonian culture and art before the entire world, as well as an opportunity to highlight the diversity of artistic positions, representative potentials and significance of Macedonian authors in their homeland and abroad”, said Nedeljkovic.

Turkey’s Basak Senova is the Macedonian Pavilion curator, while Maja Cankulovska­-Mihajlovska from the National Gallery of Macedonia is the deputy curator.

The 56. International Art Exhibition, titled All the World’s Futures and curated by Okwui Enwezor, will be open to the public as of Saturday at the Giardini and Arsenale venues. The Venice Biennale was founded in 1895 and it is now one of the most famous and prestigious cultural organizations in the world.
