Macedonian people on their feet: Mass protests against Zaev – Tsipras agreement (video)

The capitulation agreement that Prime Minister Zoran Zaev agreed with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was the reason for many Macedonian citizens to express their revolt, their dissatisfaction with the announced change to the Constitution.

A large number of citizens decided to protest against the name change. University professors, doctors, lawyers, farmers, actors, young and old all joined the crowd to say “no” to the agreement that was signed on Sunday.

The first protest against the name agreement was held on Wednesday outside the parliament building, where people clearly and loudly said that they are against the capitulation agreement of Prime Minister Zaev and Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov.

Since then every day citizens have been gathering to express their revolt.

On Sunday VMRO-DPMNE organized a major protest against this capitulation agreement in Bitola, which was attended by about 20,000 people. The leader of the protest was the president of the opposition party, Hristijan Mickoski.

Late on Sunday, there was a massive protest in Skopje where the police used tear gas and shock bombs against the crowd. Many of the protesters say the police used excessive force for which there was no need. Protesters also urged the police to join them and defend the name of Macedonia together.

The protest was also attended by many intellectuals, professors, public figures, and some of them were injured as the actress Arna Sijak was. On social networks, many of these public figures complained about the attitude of the police and the force that was used.

A major nationwide protest against the name change has been announced for June 23, citizens say that this horror should be stopped before it is too late.
