Ohrid sees solid bookings, expects a good tourist season

The City of Ohrid, Macedonia’s best known tourism resort, expects to have a successful summer season. The Mayor, Nikola Bakraceski, says that hotels and agencies report that the number of bookings is holding steady.

“Statistics show that the bookings are within expectations, and we are on track to have a very successful season. Recently introduced low cost flights from London and Basel to Ohrid will also contribute. The City also helps with promotional activities to improve and present what Ohrid has to offer, and those efforts are bearing fruit. The number of guests, and the number of countries where the guests come from, keeps expanding”, Bakraceski said at a presentation on Friday.

Oleg Malenko, manager at the VisPoj tour-operator which if focused on the Danish market, adds that the bookings are on schedule. “We’ve actually seen an increase bookings from Denmark, and we are working to meet their expectations and eliminate all possible glitches”, Malenko said.

Fibula Travel, which is the Macedonian partner for the Corendon International company, that covers the Netherlands and Belgium, informed that they have continued their reservation in hotels in the coming three years.
