Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas Day in Macedonia

Orthodox Christians in Macedonia are celebrating Saturday the Birth of Jesus Christ – Christmas. Liturgies are being held in all temples of the Macedonian Orthodox Church (MOC) across the country.

The main event is taking place at St. Clement of Ohrid church in Skopje, where the liturgy is served by the Archbishop of Ohrid and Macedonia, H.H. Stefan.

On the occasion of Christmas, H.H. Stefan and members of the MOC Holy Synod have sent a Christmas greeting to the clergy and all Orthodox faithful wishing them peace and blessing from God.

“The arrival of the lord on earth brought eternal joy. This event reconciled heaven and earth and the man with God. That is why peace is the continual message of Christmas: peace with ourselves, peace with the others, peace with everybody – peace with God”, says HH Stefan.

He says the Macedonian people, the country and the church will experience joyous times if there is peace, unity, understanding and respect.
