President Ivanov conceals words “former Yugoslav” from the tag naming the Republic Macedonia

During his visit to Poland, for the United Nations climate conference, President Gjorge Ivanov used a piece of paper to hide the words “former Yugoslav” from the interim reference name Macedonia is forced to use in international forums.

The sign in front of the President read only Republic of Macedonia – the constitutional name of the country. President Ivanov frequently removes the reference, which many Macedonians consider insulting and an imposition on their right to self-determination. Greece has insisted that Macedonia adopts this interim reference as a condition to allow its entry into the United Nations.
