Putin bypasses Turkey, flies over Macedonia to reach Greece

Following the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Greece, media have focused on its significance, MIA reports from Athens.

Media outlets say Putin sent a message by choosing the route of the Moscow-Athens flight.

“The Moscow-Athens flight did not follow the usual route that encompasses a portion of the Turkish airspace. It bypassed this route and flew over Macedonia. The message is clear – there is an open issue with Turkey regarding the recent downing of the Russian fighter jet”, reads Greek-American website “The National Herald”.

According to the publication, Turkish fighter jets violated Greek airspace in light of Putin’s visit.
