Serbia demands urgent meeting of the Security Council on Kosovo

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic addressed the nation after Kosovo declared that it has created its own army, and said that he has called for an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council. Vucic expressed his gratitude to Russia and China for their support, as well as to NATO, whose Secretary General condemned the creation of the Kosovan army.

In Kosovo, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj met with ambassadors to present his draft of a legally binding treaty with Serbia, which he said will support the dialogue with Serbia.

Vucic responded that there will be no dialogue with Kosovo until Pristina withdraws its decision to impose steep tariffs on Serbian goods, and met with the leadership of the army. Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin said that the army is prepared to act on any order given by the President.

– Albanians have shown that they never cared about the law and justice, but only wanted to demonstrate force over Serbs and are now engaged in an open assault on the Republic of Serbia. Albanians don’t want compromise, and in everything they do, they have the support of the United States, Great Britain and Germany, said Vucic, who added that he has received a message from the top Russian leadership on the situation.

Vucic and Kosovan President Hashim Thaci were recently promoting a push to redraw borders and transfer majority Serbian territories in Kosovo to Serbia, in exchange for a transfer of majority Albanian municipalities from Serbia to Kosovo. This proposal was met with some support in Brussels and DC, but was rejected by Germany.
