Slovenia remains strong supporter of Macedonian Euro-Atlantic goals

Slovenian Ambassador to Macedonia Branko Rakovec said that his country will continue to be a staunch supporter of Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic integrations and a friend of Macedonia on this path. Ambassador Rakovec was speaking at the reception to celebrate 24 years since Slovenia’s declaration of independence.

“Citizens and leaders in Macedonia have made their decision. They chose stability, harmony and prosperity. They have chosen the strategic goals of their future, to live in a country of EuroAtlantic values as full members of EuroAtlantic institutions. This is something that the citizens of Macedonia truly deserve”, Ambassador Rakovec said at the reception, attended by Parliament Speaker Trajko Veljanoski, Government ministers, distinguished political and business leaders and members of the diplomatic corps.

Ambassador Rakovec added that Macedonia and Slovenia have excellent relations, dating back to when the two countries were part of Yugoslavia. Slovenia declared independence based on a referendum held on 25 June 1991, followed by other members of federal Yugoslavia.
