Stavreski’s “The Secret Ingredient” and Poppe’s “The King’s Choice” to open KineNova festival


The 3rd international film festival KineNova will kick off Wednesday featuring new filmmakers and special screening of film “The Secret Ingredient” by Gjorce Stavreski and the focus on Norway “The King’s Choice” film by Erik Poppe in Skopje-based Cinema Frosina.

“The King’s Choice” is based on the true the story about the three dramatic days in April of 1940, when the King of Norway is presented with the monstrous ultimatum from the Germans: surrender or die. With German Air Force and soldiers hunting them down, the royal family is forced to flee from the capital. They decide to go separate ways, not knowing if they’ll ever see each other again. While Crown Princess Märtha leaves Norway with the children to seek refuge in Sweden, King Haakon and Crown Prince Olav stay on to fight the Germans. After three days of desperately trying to evade the Germans, King Haakon makes his final decision, one that may cost him, his family and many Norwegians their lives.

KineNova will officially open on Friday (Oct. 5) with the premiere of the film “The Mocking of Christ” by Jani Bojadzi. The film is included in the international competition among eight other films at the festival, which is held October 3-12. The official selection includes five other films from Europe, one film from Iran and other from Peru.

The festival will include activities such as promotion, support, incentives, exchange of experiences, and film awards. It will be a venue for new filmmakers to showcase new stories and offer a fresh perspective of humanity and the world we live in.
