TAV: 17 new destinations, 75 percent more passengers at airports

Five years after it took over the management of Macedonia’s airports, “TAV Macedonia” has registered a 75-percent growth in the number of passengers at Skopje-based “Alexander the Great” and Ohrid’s “St.Paul the Apostle”, accompanied by 17 new destinations.

The number of passengers in 2010 amounted to 729.297, increasing to 1.278.343 in 2014. TAV Macedonia general director Zoran Krstevski said Thursday the company has significantly developed airline traffic in Macedonia. “Skopje is currently linked with 26 European destinations and one to Dubai, which is a significant increase when compared to 2010, when the capital had direct flights to only ten cities”, said Krstevski.

The company hopes that about ten new flights will be established in 2015, contributing to further growth. According to Krstevski, “TAV Macedonia” is planning to promote the Skopje airport into a regional center of airline traffic, increasing the number of passengers from the region and enabling transit travel. TAV expects the number of passengers to reach or exceed 1.5 million in 2015, followed by gradual increase until it reaches the airport’s capacity of 3 million passengers.
