In a tight run in the main program there are 11 awarded films; the short film competitive program covers 9 films; the New Visions bring us 5 avant-garde titles, which is equal to the number of films in the Vip Junior Program; the film-lovers will have a chance to see 9 authentic themes in the Documentary Program; 11 films are featured in the Macedonian Panorama, and 15 shorts will be screen in the non-competitive program “Short matters!” by the European Film Academy.

In the year when we mark 20 years since the premiere of ‘Before the Rain’, the Association of Film Professionals of the Republic of Macedonia presents the more-than-deserved “Golden Star of Macedonian Film” Award to Milcho Manchevski – our most successful film director. In his honor, homage to Manchevski, i.e. his entire opus of feature films will be screened.

I am proud of what we have achieved in the past years and this year too – on this small jubilee of 35 years of festival existence – we can only say that even the wildest dreams are not impossible if there is hard and constant work involved. Through the Manaki Brothers, Macedonia this year too, will be a bright star on the film sky, said the Festival Director, Labina Mitevska.

I am convinced that this edition will once again reaffirm our commitment to the art of film and the great expansion of Macedonian cinema”, Culture Minister Elizabeta Kancheska-Milevska said.

In front of the journalists she emphasised that since 2008 to date over 156 film projects have been supported in the categories of long-feature, documentaries, short and animated films, which have participated in international festivals 616 times and have won 113 awards, an impressive number which in fact is a valorization of the artistic efforts and the potential of the Macedonian film professionals and Macedonian film art.

This year’s jubilee will take place under the motto To the stars. The winner of the Special Award Golden Camera 300 for Outstanding Contribution to World Film Art is Luca Bigazzi, whereas the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award Golden Camera 300 is Chris Mengis. The New Visions program, on the other hand, will show the future of film across the globe.
