Unemployment rate higher in men than women in Macedonia

According to Macedonia’s State Statistical Office for the last quarter of 2013, in Macedonia there are more unemployed men than women. Almost 100,000 men aged between 25-49 are looking for a job, and 70,661 women in the same age group.

Most unemployed persons are in the youth group. 275,225 persons, or 50,3% of Macedonian youth is unemployed, 52,000 of which are under 25 years old.

The total unemployment rate in Macedonia in the last quarter of 2013 is 28,6%, and the employment rate is 40,9%.

Most of the employed persons work in the processing industry – 133,557 persons, followed by agriculture, trade and construction.
