Wizz Air inaugurates Basel-Ohrid-Basel flight

Wizz Air inaugurated late Wednesday the Basel-Ohrid-Basel flight. TAV Macedonia Director Zoran Krstevski and Ohrid Mayor Nikola Bakarceski welcomed this evening the first 180 passengers who arrived at Ohrid Airport from Basel.

The direct flight will operate throughout the whole year twice a week, namely on Wednesdays and Sundays, Krstevski said at the welcoming ceremony.

He said that in the first six months of this year TAV registered a traffic growth of 17.2 percent in comparison to the last year. TAV expects that the new routes, inaugurated few days ago, to insure further growth and intends to keep promoting the Ohrid Airport in order to attract other airliners to enter the market.

Two days ago direct flights to Oslo and Friedrichshafen were inaugurated from the Alexander the Great Airport in Skopje, which are part of the five new destinations of the low cost airline Wizz Air with subsidizes provided by the Macedonian government.

Yesterday, a Wizz Air flight was launched to Barcelona enabling Macedonia for the first time ever to be connected by air with Spain. Today, the Skopje Airport also launched new flights to Hamburg and Nurnberg. The new flights will be realized twice a week.
