Zaev: SDSM doing its best to speed up signature-collection to obtain mandate for setting up new government

Swift formation of a new government is in the interest of the country and its citizens, who, along with the EU, expect an urgent implementation of necessary reforms, SDSM leader Zoran Zaev told reporters late Thursday after a meeting with Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn.

The party, he said, is fully committed to the reform priorities, notified in the reports of the European Commission and Reinhard Priebe.

‘The SDSM-led coalition has been doing its best to wrap up the signature-collection process to be able to launch the negotiations on forming a government,’ Zaev said.

He urged reporters to ask DUI leader Ali Ahmeti about his party’s demands in terms of opening the talks on new government.

“I assume what DUI expects in written is everything related to the future government’s program – details of our, their platform, and everything connected with the citizens’ expectations,’ Zaev said.

After obtaining the government mandate SDSM will present its stance on the platform of Albanian parliamentary parties, Zaev said.

‘SDSM has promoted the one-society concept…I am pleased that ethnic issues are finally opened in Macedonia as they should be a subject of discussion,’ Zaev said.
